About

Hello! My name is Emma McGorray and I’m an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Carleton College. I received my PhD in Social Psychology from Northwestern University and received my B.A. in Psychology and English from Kenyon College, where I also studied creative writing.

My research examines (1) the identities, experiences, and relationships of LGBTQ+ people and (2) diversity and inclusion in psychological science, including how to improve the field along those lines. You can read more about my research and find links to my publications here.

In my teaching, I focus on being an inclusive instructor who is responsive to my students’ needs, interests, goals, and identities. You can learn more about my teaching and see sample syllabi for classes I’ve instructed here.

My CV (last updated July 2024) is available here. Outside of research and teaching, I love reading, crocheting, and playing nostalgic video games. You can see some of my recent crochet projects here.
